The terms “color” and “hue” are often used interchangeably by artists and designers. However, the words “color” and “hue” actually have two different meanings.

 

  • Color is the general term we use to describe every hue, tint, tone or shade we see. White, black and grey are often referred to as a color.
  • Hue refers to the dominant color family of the specific color (ie. blue). White, black and grey are never referred to as a hue.

 

The relationship of the secondary hue to primary is split complementary and the default Xidipity hues/colors are as follows:
